Two little calves, Barry and Margot, born this weekend 10-12 Feb 2012

On Sunday we castrated Barry with an elastrator. I just hope that we got both testes.

Cecil, the Cheviot Ram, invited to dinner

Since Cecil was not successful in servicing our four rams last season we decided to replace him with Erasmus.  Unfortunately, poor Cecil had to pay the price for his failure.

To stun him I used a captive bolt pistol with a powerful cartridge (I used two shots) before slitting his neck.  We made sure that it was a very cool morning with no flies.
